Lynette Whiteman Dementia Caregiver and Advocate

Meet former family caregiver and senior advisor Lynette Whiteman who has cared for her mom who had Alzheimer’s for the past eight years. Lynette’s mom recently passed away during the Covid19 pandemic. In this episode, we talk about the Covid19 issues she has been addressing both personally and professionally. Lynette is currently on staff with Andy Kim, one of New Jersey’s House of Representatives where they are working to lower prescription drug costs and advocate for more dementia communication training for law enforcement. Lynette shares tips with each of us on how we can become informed voters, play a role in policy changes in our communities, and take time for ourselves.

Later, she became an Executive Director for a non-profit in NJ where she founded a Alzheimer’s Respite  Care Program with the Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey and started Caregiver Canines. Currently, Lynette is on the staff of House of Representative Andy Kim, who represents the 3rd district in New Jersey.
