“Let me know how I can help.”
As family caregivers, we hear this countless times and answer with a blank stare. There are lists of tasks we could give but we just can’t think of them on the spot or we make assumptions that this individual is too busy, lives to far away, or isn’t willing to get their hands dirty.
This month, my daughter, Natalie, helped me create an Amazon Storefront for Happy Healthy Caregiver as a way to bridge this gap.
Amazon is known for being fast, convenient, and having everything you need (and want) all in one place. By creating an Amazon Storefront, I was able to organize my favorite products, as well as some new ones I’d like to try, into categories, making it easy for caregivers and care recipients to find new, useful products. The Happy Healthy Caregiver Storefront includes:
- self care surprises for the family caregiver
- activities or comfort items for the care recipient
- games to play with the family
- my all time favorite reads
While creating and refining my Storefront, it dawned on me that the Amazon Storefront would be a helpful tool for family caregivers to create a wish list to share with their care team to help aid them in their caregiving journey. I’ve seen many caregivers put this into practice by sharing their wish list links on their social media accounts. Patti Lafleur talked about this during in episode 134 of the Happy Healthy Caregiver podcast.
You can create your own either through an Amazon Storefront or through a general public wish list that can be shared with friends and family.
Create a Monetized Amazon Storefront
Some of you have shared your caregiving story on social media channels and have hundreds or thousands following you. You certainly have your tried and true products that others want to know about! Why not make a few dollars while sharing your recommendations.
To build a monetized influencer Storefront similar to the Happy Healthy Caregiver storefront, Amazon will first need to determine if you qualify as an influencer based on your social media engagements. If you meet the criteria, the set-up process for an Amazon Storefront is fairly easy. Amazon provides step-by-step instructions on how to create a Storefront which can be found here.
Create a Public Amazon Wishlist
If you are not able to create an Amazon Influencer Storefront, you’re still able to create a public wish list to share with your care team. In depth instructions on how to do so can be found here.
Creating a space where caregivers, care recipients, friends, or family can come to see what you’re actually want and need is beneficial. It’s an easy option for those who care about you and your care recipient to lend a helping hand.
As a caregiver, it can be so difficult to get the necessary help or tools and sometimes, we receive gifts that, while appreciated, are not what we need to provide safe, healthy, quality care…or desire. Creating an Amazon Storefront or Wishlist helps break these problems down, making it exponentially easier for others to provide you, or your care recipient, with items that you’re genuinely need or want to try.
If you’re looking to get started, you can use the Happy Healthy Caregiver Storefront as a way to gather some ideas. Hopefully, the easy accessibility of Amazon’s Storefront will make being the everyday caregiver just a little bit easier!
